Montego-Bay shoe market gutted by fire
Fire destroyed a large section of the Montego-Bay shoe market in St James on Sunday morning.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade report that it received a call about the blaze around 2:30 a.m.
Superintendent Roland Walters who is assigned to the Trelawny Division told reporters that fire fighters from his division were called in to aid in putting out the blaze.
He said when they arrived on the scene, 60 percent of the area was in flames.
According to Superintendent Walters, initial reports reveal that around 100 structures were in the market.
He said investigations are being done to find the cause of the blaze.
And the Superintendent rubbished claims that the brigade experienced difficulties due to a lack of water.
