MOCA probing allegations that persons are charging citizens to have their electricity restored

The Major Organized Crime and Anti-corruption Agency (MOCA) is investigating reports of extortion, where it’s alleged that persons are charging citizens to have their electricity restored.

MOCA says the reports have come from residents in rural communities of Westmoreland, Clarendon, and St. Catherine.

Director of Communications at MOCA, Major Basil Jarrett, said the agency is working diligently to address the serious allegations.

Major Jarrett urged people with information to contact MOCA.

Earlier this week, a man impersonating a Jamaica Public Service (JPS) worker and soliciting payment for reconnection was arrested in Westmoreland.
