Manchester police say no murder/robbery in Land Settlement, Comfort and Broadleaf since curfews on Saturday evening

The Manchester police say there has been no murder or robbery in the Land Settlement, Comfort and Broadleaf communities since the imposition of curfews on Saturday evening.

The curfews in the communities are slated to end at 6 PM today.

They were imposed to combat an uptick in crime and violence, which police say was encouraged by the lack of electricity in these communities.

Speaking with IRIE FM news this morning, Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of operations in Manchester, Colin Johnson said the presence of lawmen in the areas has proven fruitful.

DSP Johnson also noted that measures are being employed to maintain peace in other sections of the parish.
