Major inspections underway at institutions across Kingston and St.Andrew, to determine the extent of damage caused by the quake

Major inspections are underway at various institutions across Kingston and St. Andrew, to determine the extent of damage caused by this morning’s quake.

That’s according to Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams who conducted a tour of affected areas.

Reports emerged this morning of damage to a number of buildings in the corporate area, following the quake.

The mayor said the KSAMC partnered with government agencies such as the National Works Agency (NWA) and the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB), to inspect institutions such as hospitals, schools and courts.

Meanwhile, heavy equipment and personnel were deployed to areas affected by landslides.

These include Cane River, Dallas Castle and Greenvale in rural St. Andrew.
