The nation’s larger broiler companies will have access to a $1 billion loan to help boost production levels in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

The loan, which is being provided by the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) was announced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness in Parliament on Tuesday.

Mr. Holness said the loan facility will ensure that there is no chicken shortage in the country which could impact prices.

Efforts are also being made to assist small poultry farmers across the island.
