JTA signs MOU with Finance Ministry, signalling acceptance of gov’t’s wage offer
The Jamaica Teachers’ Association, JTA has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Finance Ministry, signalling its acceptance of the government’s wage offer.
The signing took place at the Finance Ministry’s office in Kingston, this afternoon.
It follows a vote by the JTA last night to accept the wage offer, after the rejection of a previous offer on Wednesday, and nationwide protests by the educators.
JTA President Elect Leighton Johnson signed the MOU today, after President LaSonja Harrison opted not to.
He said the association decided to accept, because there was an improvement in the offer.
