JPS says power restored to customers impacted by outages caused by Tropical Storm Rafael
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it has now completed restoration of power to customers who were impacted by outages caused by Tropical Storm Rafael.
JPS President & CEO, Hugh Grant, said all parishes were fully restored at 3:00 P.M. yesterday, with the exception of one business customer in Port Esquivel, St Catherine, who is still without service due to access challenges caused by swampy terrain.
Mr. Grant said the company is working to relocate the line supplying the facility, to restore service to the customer as soon as possible.
Meantime, he said JPS was able to restore customers ahead of the tight timeline it had set and without any safety incident.
Mr. Grant explained that quick restoration was possible, as the company worked closely with the Ministry of Energy, the Office of Utility Regulations (OUR), various municipalities, members of parliament and other community representatives, who shared information which helped JPS execute its restoration strategy safely and quickly.
The JPS CEO added that the company has deactivated its incident command center, and has returned to normal operations.
