JPS says it has relaxed its collections and disconnection processes

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it has relaxed its collections and disconnection processes in recognition of the far-reaching impact of Hurricane Beryl on customers.

JPS also notes that it continues to facilitate flexible payment arrangements for customers who need extensions on their due dates.

The moves are part of a series of relief measures implemented following the passage of the Category 4 hurricane last month.

Other measures include a 20 per cent discount on the bills of post-paid residential customers who use 150 kilowatt hours of electricity or less for the month, as well as top-up electricity credit for active prepaid customers.

The discount is reflected as a separate line item on bills.

Over 350,000 customers are reportedly benefiting from the discount.
