JPS assures that it is working to restore power to some 55,000 customers amidst protests in at least two parishes
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it understands its customers’ frustration and is committed to restoring power to all affected persons as soon as possible.
The utility company’s renewed commitment comes amidst several protests over a lack of electricity.
This morning residents in Hart Hill, Portland and Sheffield in Westmoreland mounted roadblocks to register their discontent over the delay in power restoration.
They are concerned that despite not living in areas which were impacted severely by Hurricane Beryl, they are still in darkness.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, Director of Corporate Communication at JPS, Winsome Callum said the company will not rest until all its customers are reconnected to the grid.
She explained that there are several factors contributing to a delay in restoration in some areas.
Approximately 55,000 of the company’s 692,000 customers are still without power.
