JLP says it’s impossible for Golding to assert that no PNP parliamentarian is under probe by the IC for illicit enrichment
The Jamaica Labour Party has claimed that it’s impossible for President of the People’s National Party, Mark Golding to state with any certainty that no PNP parliamentarian is under probe by the Integrity Commission for illicit enrichment.
This comes in the wake of Mr. Golding’s statement yesterday that none of his members of parliament is among the eight who were referred to the IC, for investigations regarding illicit enrichment.
The declaration follows the commission’s announcement on Wednesday that 8 parliamentarians were referred to its investigation division for illicit enrichment, between April 2022 and March 2024.
Mr. Golding assured that he consulted with all 22 PNP parliamentarians and each confirmed that to their knowledge, they are not being investigated by the IC for illicit enrichment.
According to a statement by the PNP, the Integrity Commission, while it has maintained the confidentiality of those referred, has confirmed that the individuals under investigation have been informed of their status.
However, JLP Deputy General Secretary, Senator Charles Sinclair said he is not aware of such a practice by the Integrity Commission.
