JDF says training of personnel for CARICOM Joint Task Force is in high gear

The joint contingency military training being hosted by Jamaica in partnership with Canada, ahead of the planned deployment of forces to Haiti, is in high gear.

More than 300 personnel from Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Belize have been integrated into a CARICOM Joint task force designed to enhance preparations of designated CARICOM nations’ security forces for possible multi-national security operations.

Training under the programme got started on March 28.

In an update shared to its social media pages, the JDF said the programme dubbed ”Exercise Trogon Shield” is in full gear.

Lieutenant Colonel Kevron Henry, who is the Chief Executive Planner and Commander for the CARICOM Joint Task Force, expressed gratitude for the support from Canada to ensure that the regional forces are trained for any contingency that may arise within the region.

Meanwhile, Canadian Armed Forces Commander Colonel Tarik Messous noted that the support from Canada is a continuation of the stellar partnership shared with Jamaica.
