Jamaica’s Under 20 women’s 4×100 meter world record rejected by World Athletics
Jamaica’s recent Under 20 women’s 4×100 meter world record set at the Carifta Games in April has been rejected by the world governing body of track and field ….World Athletics.
The quartet of Serena Cole, Tia and Tina Clayton along with Briana Liston clocked a blistering 42.58 seconds to erase the previous mark of 42.94 set by Jamaica in Nairobi, Kenya at last year’s World Junior Championships.
However, in the monthly newsletter circulated by World Athletics, the reason charged by the global governing body on why the record has been rejected and not ratified, is allegedly, that not all team members were subjected to doping control.
There are unconfirmed reports that one member of the team was not drug tested on the day the record was achieved, as she was tested the previous day after winning her individual event.
As a result the old mark of 42.94 second remains as the official Under 20 women’s 4×100 metres record.
