Jamaica’s murder tally surpasses 600 mark

Jamaica’s murder tally has surpassed the 600 mark.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) as at Saturday, July 6, 602 people were murdered in the country.

This is 102 fewer than the 704 recorded in the same period last year.

Portland recorded the least number of murders with 6.

While St. James continues to record the highest number of murders with 73, followed by Westmoreland with 57.

Meantime, the JCF is reporting reductions in rapes, robberies and break-ins.

Cases of rape declined by 86, from 258 to 172.

Robberies went down by 59, from 387 to 328.

While break-ins are down by 36, from 481 to 445.
