Jamaica’s medal count improved to 8 at CAC Games after Blaise Bicknell wins bronze

Jamaica’s medal count improved to 8 at the Central American and the Caribbean Games yesterday, after local tennis star Blaise Bicknell won the bronze in the men’s singles competition.

This when he defeated Alan Rubio of Mexico in two sets ……….in what was a tough contest that lasted 2 hours and 37 minutes.

Jamaica now lies 19th overall on the medal table with 4 silver and 4 bronze.

In the meantime, Jamaica’s sunshine girls were in a dominant mood……after recording a one-sided 116-10 thrashing of Caribbean neighbors Cayman islands yesterday.

Goal shooter Amanda Pickney led the way with 47 goals from 47 attempts, while Rebbkah Robinson also had a 100 percent shooting accuracy with 17 from 17 and Simone Bartley supported with 17 goals from 20 tries.

It was Jamaica’s second win in as many games following a  62-34 win over Barbados on Monday in their opening group A’ game.

The Nicole Aiken Pinnock coached Jamaicans will next be in action this afternoon, when they tackle the Dominican Republic at 2:30 Jamaica time.
