Jamaicans welcome reduction in prices of some chicken products sold by Jamaica Broilers

Some Jamaicans have expressed relief that there will be a reduction in the price of some chicken products sold by the Jamaica Broilers Group, effective tomorrow (August 18).

The company announced this morning, that $12.50 per kilo will be shaved off the list price of the brand’s Grade-A whole bird and mixed parts.

With several citizens enduring economic challenges, many say they are grateful that one of the country’s biggest meat producers has decided to ease the financial burdens of Jamaicans.

One restaurant operator told IRIE FM news that the price cut will help to increase business profits.

A security guard from Duhaney Park in Kingston said with the price reduction, he will be able to feed his family more sufficiently.

He is hoping that the prices of other products will also be reduced soon.

However, one man from Red Hills Road worries that this reduction will not be realized by consumers.

He fears businesses, like supermarkets and wholesalers will still mark up their prices.
