Jamaicans urged to exercise patience at hospitals due to Dengue, Covid and Influenza

Jamaicans who show up to the country’s hospitals for medical care are urged to be patient, as the triple threat of the dengue, Covid and influenza virus is taking a toll on the medical facilities.

On Wednesday, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jaquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie reported that the country’s hospitals were overcrowded and resources were stretched thin due to the viruses.

Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton, in echoing the CMO’s comments explained that although Covid is no-longer at crisis level in the country, the positivity rate remains above 10 per cent, which is relatively high.

He explained further that treatment of infected persons coupled with trauma care, will add burden to the nation’s hospitals.
