Jamaica seeking investors to expand acreage in crops such as breadfruit
Jamaica is seeking investors to expand its acreage in several orchard crops that are in high demand overseas.
Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator Aubyn Hill outlined major investment opportunities for breadfruit, ackee, avocado and mangoes during an export and investment mission to Mexico.
The mission is part of the ministry’s ongoing effort to increase the export of Jamaican products and services.
Speaking with Mexico’s Confederation of Business Chamber President Dr. Octavio de la Torres, Senator Hill noted the potential of breadfruit as an alternative for persons with gluten intolerance.
Senator Hill stated that Jamaica is looking to expand production of avocados which is a crop widely grown in Mexico.
