Jamaica records over 653 murders since the start of the year
Jamaica recorded 653 murders as of Sunday, June 12.
This is 15 more than the 638 recorded in the corresponding period last year.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, St. James recorded the highest number of murders with 106, followed by Westmoreland with 65.
There were also increases in cases of robbery and break-ins.
Robberies increased by 24, from 396 to 420, while break-ins went up by 14, from 427 to 441.
There was a decline in reported cases of rape, which went down by 36 from 217 to 181.
