Ja’cans still upset over pay hike for Parliamentarians despite announcement of accountability measures and PM’s salary increase roll back
Despite the announcement of accountability measures for politicians, and the Prime Minister rolling back his salary increase, Jamaicans are still upset about the massive pay hike for Parliamentarians.
This, as citizens continue to call for the rolling back of the salary increases for all members of Parliament and Cabinet ministers.
Citizens, including some advocacy groups and churches, have expressed their displeasure with the Prime Minister’s latest address on social media.
IRIE FM news understands that plans for public protests are still in train for today (May 24).
One such protest is slated to take place at the office of the Ministry of Finance in Kingston.
Co-Chair of the Advocates Network, Professor Rosalea Hamilton is urging citizens to use the opportunity to register how they feel about the increases.
She says the increases cannot go unchallenged.
