Integrity of Electoral Office remains intact, despite delay in producing results of Monday’s polls – O’Brien Chang

Despite the delay in producing the results of the Monday’s local polls, political commentator, Kevin O’Brien Chang says the integrity of the Electoral Office is still intact.

His comments come amid growing concern from some members of the public, over the delay in announcing the winner of the Local Government Election.

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) have both claimed victory but the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is still conducting the final count of ballots.

Results are expected between this evening and tomorrow.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, Mr. Chang said despite the delay in declaring the winner, the election system should not be questioned.

He noted, however, that the EOJ has a responsibility to give an assessment of Monday’s operations.
