Director of National Laboratory Services, Dr. Marlene Tapper has stated that the National Blood Transfusion Service has sufficient blood and blood products.

There was a high demand for blood after the passage of Hurricane Melissa as there were disruptions to blood collection and storage leading to critically low national blood supplies.

Dr. Tapper said the recent blood drives have assisted with increasing the supply.
