Health Ministry provides psychosocial support to over 3400 citizens, following Hurricane Melissa

The Ministry of Health says it provided psychosocial support to over 3400 citizens, as well as over 500 health care workers, in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

This was to help them cope with the emotional trauma, grief, anxiety, and stress caused by the hurricane.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie says the ministry partnered with several groups to provide the support, especially to residents of high risk communities.

She says teams will visit communities on a regular basis, to provide support.

She is reminding citizens that if they need help, they can call the ministry’s helpline at 888-639-5433 or text ‘support’ to the U Matter chat line” at 876-838-4897.
