Gunman shot dead and security guard hospitalized, following shoot out in Montego Bay last night.
A man is dead and a security guard is nursing gunshot wounds following a shootout between gunmen and security guards in Montego Bay, St. James last night (August 3).
Reports from the police are that around 10: 30 PM, a security guard at the Montego Bay Fire Station along Barnett Street was attacked by two gunmen.
Acting Head of the St James police, Superintendent Carlos Russell, says a Hawkeye security team was passing at the time of the incident and challenged the gunmen, resulting in a shootout.
One of the gunmen was shot and killed and the other escaped.
A firearm was recovered following the incident.
The security guard who was shot in the hand and groin area was admitted to hospital for treatment.
