Grange Hill High receives additional support to tackle issues relating to crime and violence

The Grange Hill High school in Westmoreland has received additional support, in the form of police school resource officers, to help tackle issues relating to crime and violence.

This following the murder of 16-year-old student Carson Barrett, and the wounding of a female student, last month.

The children were shot by armed men while they were along a roadway in the community.

The students had just left a school event.

Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake, National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang and Education Minister Fayval Williams visited the school today.

In his address to the students, Commissioner Blake urged them to avoid criminal activities.

Dr. Blake said the resource officers assigned to the institution will, among other things, help students with conflict resolution.
