Gov’t creates 500 new posts for Public Health Inspectors
The island’s health sector has been boosted with the creation of 500 new posts for public health inspectors.
This has doubled the number of public health inspectors currently employed at the Health Ministry and is expected to significantly impact the efficiency of departments island wide.
The announcement was made by portfolio minister Dr. Christopher Tufton and comes in the wake of outrage at a recent public health scare at Crab Circle in Kingston, with concerns raised about the ability of public health inspectors to adequately carry out their duties more often.
Dr. Tufton stressed that the government is working to overcome challenges in the sector, especially as it relates to manpower.
