Under-performing Chelsea have appointed club legend Frank Lampard as caretaker Manager until the end of the ongoing English Premier League season.

Lampard, who was at Stamford bridge on Tuesday to watch Chelsea’s goalless draw against Liverpool, replaces  Graham Potter who was sacked 48 hours before.

The former midfielder and Chelsea’s record goal-scorer previously spent 18 months in charge at Stamford Bridge before he was dismissed in January 2021.

Nothing has been discussed about his staying beyond the summer, with the process for identifying and appointing a full-time head coach continuing.

According to Lampard, going back to Chelsea was an easy decision to make.

His first game will be away to Wolverhampton wanderers in the premier league on Saturday before a Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
