Former St. Mary MP Jolyan Silvera remanded until April 11

Former Member of Parliament for Western St. Mary, Jolyan Silvera, who is charged with the murder of his wife Melissa, was again remanded when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court, today (February 8).

A bail application date was set for April 11.

Justice Vinette Graham Allen again barred the media from observing the proceedings. This is the second time that the media has been barred from the courtroom by the judge.

Melissa Silvera was found dead at her home in St. Andrew on the night of November 10, last year.

It was first reported that the 42-year-old died in her sleep of natural causes, but a postmortem report revealed that there were at least three bullet fragments in her body.

The police launched an investigation into the case and charged Mr. Silvera last month with his wife’s murder.
