Flow confirms work has been stopped on cell tower in Portsea following protest
Telecommunications company Flow has assured that no further work will be carried out on the cell tower in Portsea, St. Elizabeth, until a resolution is reached with the municipal authorities and residents.
Upset residents staged a demonstration yesterday (January 5), calling for the tower to be removed due to health concerns.
In a statement Flow expressed concern about the protest action.
It explained that construction of the cell tower commenced at Melksham in Portsea, after permission was granted by the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation last November.
Subsequently, Flow received a stop order from the municipal corporation, while the construction of the tower was being completed.
Flow said it is in discussions with the CEO of the Municipal Corporation to address the concerns, and that no further work will be done at the site while the parties work towards a resolution.
