Finance Minister, Dr Nigel Clarke has issued a call for the Public Accountancy Board and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, to exercise greater vigilance in ensuring the highest professional standards are maintained in the accounting and auditing professions.

Dr Clarke made the call at the Government’s Audit Committees’ Conference at the summit Kingston hotel this morning.

Addressing the conference, the Finance Minister stressed that in a market economy, investors, regulators and other stakeholders depend on the information furnished by auditors to make decisions.

As a result, he said great care must be given when auditors carry out their duties.
