Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke has pledged to fulfil his promise to cut the asset tax as soon as possible.

Last year, the Ministry indicated that it was delaying the implementation of a reduced asset tax, in light of financial necessity, due to the impact of the COVID pandemic.

Speaking at the Mayberry forum last evening (January 25), Dr Clarke expressed appreciation to the financial industry for offering to hold off on the reduction, so that the Government had the fiscal resources to respond to the pandemic.

He said he is not in favour of the asset tax, as it is bad for business.
