Farmers yet to get animal feed hope to do so by tomorrow

At least 2 farmers, who are yet to get any animal feed, are hoping that by tomorrow, they will be able to source supplies, to avoid any further worry about the impact of the feed shortage.

Following weeks of feed shortage, manufacturers began distribution of feed yesterday, with the process expected to continue over the next few days.

It’s reported that many farm stores that got feed yesterday, ran out that same evening, due to the high demand, while other stores, especially in Westmoreland, are scheduled to get feed, by tomorrow.

Westmoreland based poultry farmer Clifton Grant, said his colleagues informed that there were long lines at the farm stores, with farmers only given one bag of feed.

And St. Ann based goat farmer Neil Shand said he was unable to get feed from farm stores in parish, so he will be seeking the aid of friends in neighbouring parishes to source feed.

He said the feed shortage has adversely affected production.
