Energy Minister Daryl Vaz discusses burying power lines to mitigate natural disaster damage
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz says discussions will continue in relation to burying power lines as a means of reducing damage to utility infrastructure during natural disasters.
The Minister was responding to questions regarding damage to Jamaica Public Service (JPS) infrastructure during a post-Cabinet press briefing this morning.
The question came as thousands of Jamaicans, mostly across southern parishes, remain without electricity as the power company works to address broken power lines and downed poles.
Mr. Vaz noted that the JPS has indicated that burying power lines would be an expensive undertaking.
