Employers urged to give election day workers time off to carry out civic duty

Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, has called on employers to give election day workers the necessary time off on election day to carry out their civic duty.

Mr. Brown expressed appreciation to employers who have already committed to allowing their workers time to man polling stations islandwide, next Monday February 26.

His appeal comes amid today’s special voting exercise for election day workers, police and soldiers.

40,000 special services electors are expected to cast their ballots today.

Police and military personnel will vote at the voting location closest to where they are assigned to work, while election day workers have been notified of their assigned polling stations.

Polling will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.

The special services electors are allowed to vote ahead of the rest of the general population, to ensure that they are available for duty on election day.
