Education Ministry to engage students on the transformation of the sector
The Education Ministry will be visiting schools to engage students on the transformation of the sector.
The move is part of efforts to fulfil the recommendations outlined in the Orlando Patterson-led Education Transformation Commission Report.
Among the seven pillars of transformation outlined in the report are curriculum-teaching and teacher-training.
Addressing the Caribbean Examinations Council’s 3rd Ministerial Summit in Barbados on Friday, State Minister for Education, Marsha Smith said the Ministry will be soliciting ideas from the sector’s largest stakeholders – students.
Ms Smith explained the importance of engaging students as the Ministry redesigns the curriculum.
She said it is hoped that from the engagements, the Ministry can improve the quality of teaching across the nation’s schools, among other things.
