Electronic-gates are now in operation at the Sangster International Airport in Montego-Bay St James.

E-gates are automated passport control systems that use biometric technology to authenticate the identity of a passenger.

Senior Communication Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism Delano Seivwright, said the gates will reduce the wait time for processing passengers.

He noted that additional work is needed for a more seamless operation, at the island’s ports of entry.

In the meantime, E-gates will soon be implemented at the Norman Manley International Airport, in Kingston.

Testing is slated to begin shortly.
