Dozens of healthcare workers from at least two regions are expected to receive their salaries on Wednesday, after delays caused them not to be paid on Monday as stipulated by government.

Some of the workers who are employed to the South East Regional Health Authority, Serha, had expressed disgruntlement on Tuesday after being advised in a memo that their salaries would be delayed due to circumstances beyond Serha’s control.

A subsequent memo indicated that the salaries for those workers would be paid on Wednesday, December 21.

Speaking with Irie Fm news on Tuesday evening, Serha’s regional director, Errol Greene noted that the authority had experienced difficulties which prevented payroll being completed.

On Tuesday, opposition spokesman on finance, Julian Robinson expressed concern, over the late payment of the salaries for this month.

He called for the minister to step in to ensure all workers are paid soon.
