Discovery Bay High still awaiting approval from Education Ministry for hiring additional teachers
As the new school year got underway, at least one St. Ann High School is still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Education for the hiring of additional teachers.
Principal of the Discovery Bay High School, Dwayne Mulgrave has indicated that his institution is short of seven teachers.
The institution which was established in 2019, will for the first time this year, host students from all forms- that is grades seven to eleven.
To accommodate the growing number of students, the institution is required to onboard additional staff each year.
Principal Mulgrave says the school is still awaiting word from the Ministry regarding the new teachers needed for this year.
He noted that timetables for some subjects will be impacted if the additional teachers are not approved.
