Transport Minister Daryl Vaz is refuting allegations by reggae artist Buju Banton that hurricane relief items were tampered with and stolen at the Norman Manley International Airport.

Buju Banton posted a video about the claims on his Instagram yesterday, which went viral.

Mr. Vaz addressed the matter on X as well as at a press briefing this morning.

Speaking at the press briefing Mr. Vaz said an investigation was done adding that the shipment left the airport intact.

He stated that it moved from the runway to the truck sent to collect the items.

Mr Vaz said the system is not perfect as the staff are overburdened with more flights than expected, but they are doing their best to get the job done.

He said every complaint or case will be investigated to ensure transparency.
