The Child Protection and Family Services Agency, CPFSA says it has intervened following a disturbing incident in which an 11-year-old girl was seen on video being beaten with a piece of bamboo by her father. 

The agency says the incident occurred on Sunday, January 21, in St. Mary.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

CEO of the agency, Laurette Adams-Thomas said the child was medically examined and placed in the care of other relatives.

She has decried all forms of child abuse.
