CPFSA providing support to family of 15-year-old stabbed to death by a schoolmate in St. James

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) says it is deeply distressed by Thursday’s killing of an Irwin High student in St. James.

The victim, 15-year-old Raniel Plummer, was stabbed to death by a school mate when classes were dismissed. The alleged attacker is in custody.

Chief Executive Officer of the CPFSA Laurette Adams Thomas said support is being provided to the family and classmates of Raniel.

She said the agency is deeply distressed by the incident.

The agency says that news of the traumatic incident prompted its first responder team to provide psychosocial and other support to Raniel’s classmates and his family and community members.

She also stated that the agency will be reaching out to the family of the accused in the incident, as he is also a child, and may have siblings in his home who may need psychological support.
