CPFSA investigating case of newborn found abandoned in St Catherine

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency, (CPFSA) says it is investigating a case in which a newborn baby boy was found in an abandoned house in Lime Hall in Guys Hill, St Catherine, on Tuesday.

It said the infant, who was found with his umbilical cord still attached, was taken to the Linstead hospital, where he is being medically examined.

The agency says it launched an investigation into the matter, as soon as it was made aware of the discovery of the child.

Meantime, the CPFSA is encouraging persons to report incidents of child abuse and endangerment using its 24 hour child abuse reporting hotline 211.

It also notes that child abuse reports may be made through Whatsapp at 876-878-2882, by email to report@childprotection.gov.jm or by visiting any CPFSA parish office, or through its social media pages @CPFSAJM.
