Court Administration Division says normal operations will ensue at courts amid rumours of closure

The Court Administration Division, (CAD) has sought to clarify that normal operations will ensue at the island’s courts on Monday.

This, amid what it says are recent unfounded rumours circulating on social media platforms, notably whatsapp, regarding the purported closure of criminal courts by the chief justice.

The division has refuted the claims, while assuring the public of the uninterrupted operation of all court proceedings.

It said contrary to the misinformation being spread, no directive has been issued to close criminal courts in Jamaica, and that both criminal and civil courts across the country will continue to convene as scheduled.

The CAD urged the public to verify information from credible sources and refrain from spreading misinformation that may cause unnecessary alarm and confusion, that may impair the integrity of the legal system.
