The Portland Police are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of an eight-year-old girl, who was reportedly found with a bag over her head at West Baptist Avenue in the parish yesterday.

She has been identified as Venice Burke.

Reports are that the child was found unresponsive and taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead at about 6:30 pm.

Police are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
