Cops in St. Catherine North and South Divisions exercising heightened vigilance after reportedly receiving threats against them

Cops operating in police Area 5 are being urged to exercise extreme vigilance while carrying out their duties after lawmen in the St. Catherine North and South Divisions recently killed alleged gangsters.

The men were reportedly killed during alleged confrontations with the police between last evening and this morning.

One of them has been identified as 44-year-old Sheldon Walters, otherwise called “Termite” of Dover District in Kitson Town. Cops claim Walters was linked to the Top Bank faction of the Klansman gang.

The other alleged gangster has been identified as 37-year-old Joseph Campbell of Browns Lane in Central Village.

In a communique to officers this morning, Acting Area 5 Commander, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips said the force has received credible threats against police officers, amid growing tensions in the Spanish Town area.

Additionally, Operations officer for the St. Catherine South Division, Deputy Superintendent Michael Campbell told IRIE FM news that in situations like these, officers should maintain a high level of situational awareness, keep a low profile when off duty, and remain in constant communication with their team and Command.
