Confederation of Trade Unions says Finance Ministry promises response on outstanding matters affecting public sector this week

President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU), St. Patrice Ennis says he has been promised a formal response from the Finance Ministry this week, regarding outstanding matters affecting members of the public sector.

It follows a letter addressed to Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke giving a ten-day ultimatum for him to meet with the group to settle the issues.

The JCTU and the Jamaica Civil Service Association have expressed that thousands of public servants are reportedly restive due to a delay in wage talks with the Ministry.

Key among them are matters related to the compensation review and wage anomalies.

Mr Ennis says he awaits the formal response from the Ministry, and thereafter a determination will be made on the way forward.
