Commissioner says police officers should not be cowed down by naysayers, but should do their work firmly and fairly

Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, says police officers, should not be cowed down by naysayers, but should do their work firmly and fairly.

There has been criticism, especially in recent times about members of the security forces using brute force when dealing with citizens.

The recent imposition of several sets of states of emergency has also re-hashed concern about human rights violations.

Speaking at the St Catherine North Divisional Awards ceremony at the GC Foster College yesterday (December 13), the Commissioner assured the officers that he will support them in their work against crime-fighting.

He urged them, however, to refrain from abusing the powers available to them.
