Classes are in session at the Discovery Bay High school as the new academic year gets underway.

There were concerns about the re-opening of the school following reports that there was no space to house first formers.

A new classroom block that should have been built by the education ministry over the summer break, has not been completed.

However, speaking to Irie Fm news on Monday morning, principal of the institution Dwayne Mulgrave said classes are in session despite the challenges.

Mr Mulgrave said the school has been forced to accommodate some students in an unfinished building due to the lack of space.

But he expressed hope that the government will come through on its promise to have the structure completed.
