Children’s Advocate says shooting of 12-y-o highlights need for parents to better monitor children

Children’s advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison says the incident in which 12-year-old Omarco Brown was shot and killed once again brings to the fore the need for parents and guardians, to be extremely careful in monitoring children.

The Jonathan Grant High School student was found on the floor of a bedroom with a gunshot to the head on Saturday.

Police have not yet classified the death.

Speaking to Irie Fm news this afternoon, Mrs Gordon-Harrison said the incident highlights the need for parents to ensure children do not find themselves in unsafe environments.

She said parents must exercise increased vigilance especially as the Christmas season approaches.
