CCRP condemns Gregory Park fire-bombing which claimed the life of senior citizen
The Caribbean Community of Retired Persons (CCRP) is condemning the fire-bombing of a community in Gregory Park which claimed the life of a senior citizen.
72-year-old Naomi Gocul affectionately known as ‘Miss Sweeney’ succumbed on Tuesday after being hospitalized.
She was seriously injured in the brutal attack which left another resident dead and several others hospitalized.
Miss Gocul was remembered as being kind and a devoted christian.
Founder and Executive Chair of CCRP Jean Lowrie Chin is demanding justice for Ms. Gocul and the victims of this heinous act.
She said elderly persons are constantly in fear, some facing extreme loneliness, especially those who live in violence-prone communities.
Ms. Lowrie-Chin called on supporting stakeholders to create a safer environment for Jamaica’s vulnerable elders.
