Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright is calling on Jamaican diaspora to help share what he describes as one of the most significant crime reduction success stories in Jamaica's modern history, arguing that improving public safety is strengthening investor confidence, accelerating economic growth and helping to reshape international perceptions of the country. Addressing the 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, Seiveright said that while crime has historically been one of Jamaica's greatest challenges and among the biggest barriers to investment and economic development, the country is now seeing measurable and sustained progress that deserves greater international recognition.

It follows a report from the Integrity Commission and a ruling that Dr. Wheatley be charged with a number of offences, to include alleged illicit enrichment. Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson said he finds it ironic that Dr. Wheatley was brought back to the Cabinet following his exit in 2018, due to another allegation, relating to corruption, when he was the Minister of Energy.

Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) President Mark Malabver says the union will soon approach the Government regarding special compensation for teachers in western parishes affected by Hurricane Melissa. While not divulging specific details, Mr. Malabver said there are policies that outline how teachers and schools are to be treated in the aftermath of hurricanes and other natural disasters.

The accused are 46-year-old Nickeisha Evans of Darley Crescent, St. Andrew; 39-year-old Tanese Wade of Mount Friendship, Mount James, also in St. Andrew and 35-year-old Joedi Kay Harrison of Dunoon Road, Kingston 2. Reports from the Constant Spring police are that the owner of the food store detected discrepancies in the business's cash records and initiated an internal investigation.
